We are proud to announce that Lanny Sorenson has been selected as Entrada High School’s Teacher of the Year!
Entrada serves adult students who face unique challenges on their journey to earning a high school diploma, and it takes a dedicated, compassionate educator to help them succeed. Lanny exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding teacher—an expert in his field who engages students of all backgrounds and abilities, guiding them toward excellence. As one student wrote, “Even in a class that isn’t everyone’s favorite subject, there’s something about the way that Lanny teaches that gets everyone talking and being creative.” His ability to make learning accessible and exciting is a testament to his deep knowledge, innovative teaching, and commitment to student success.
Chosen by the Entrada community, Lanny’s kindness and encouragement were the most mentioned qualities in nearly every nomination. He fosters a culture of respect and collaboration, working closely with students, colleagues, and families to build a strong sense of community. One student shared, “He cares about his students’ mental health, and he is truly invested in being a teacher who gets his students to understand what he teaches.” Lanny’s leadership, creativity, and lifelong dedication to education make him an essential part of Entrada High School.
